23 Months

What started out as a simple trip turned out to be a great excrusion! We were only going to stop at Station Square, but ended up on Mount Washington. It was not a disapointment though! We kept driving up up up and ended at this great scenic overlook of the city of Pittsburgh. It was grand and even in the fading light we felt vibrant. Pittsburgh's not so bad eh Mom and Dad!
As you all know this is the last month that I will be a one year old and I am already trying to enter the terrible twos as my parents call it. I am starting to catch on that for ever action there is an equal or greater reaction I get from doing things... especially when it deals with sleeping. I know that my parents are trying to get me into bed when they start my 'before bed' routines and boy do I fight it. Eventually I see that my parents aren't easily disuaded and my attempts futile, yet I have continued this since the first of the month. You can't blame me though! I want to know what goes on when I am sleeping! There is so much to do and see that I don't want to waste any time.
Challenging my parents isn't all that I have been doing though. I have been talking up a storm and am starting to say what I want with that little magic word to follow. It's great cause then I know if I say please then I will get what I want... usually. I surprise my parents every day when I say something or show them a picture while saying what it is. I can recognize/name animals and for some I can even mimic what they say. I can recognize and say the shapes: rectangle, triangle, circle, square, octagon, diamond, and star. I love to color so it comes in handy to know the colors red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, brown, white, black, and pink when asking for a crayon or marker. ( my new favorite thing is to color with markers and then hang my creation on the refridgerator. I like to sing but the only song my parents can recognize is Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I am learning the alphabet song... but that one is a little tough.
I love to count steps as I walk them up or down. I can count to ten, but after that it gets a little erratic.. I jump from ten to sixteen forgeting the in between. No problem though, in due time, I'll have it down flat!
I grew another molar and that is great cause I am eating a lot more things now! Every time we go to the store my parents pick out a new food for me to try, but I love ice cream best of all; cookies are a close second.
I think that I have surprised my parents in these last few months because I seem to get a little too shy when I see a new face. Even if the person is giving a quick hello and smile I say NO! and don't give them eye contact until I am ready. Come on people! Things have to be on my terms for right now! Mommy thinks that I will grow out of it... or at least she is hoping! Playing and sharing with other kids is not my forte. I am just so use to everything being mine that I get easily frustrated when other kids want the same things as me!
Over all I think that I am developing quite nicely and can't wait to see what life has to offer!
